As a medical writer and editor, Joseph Alexander, PhD has over 15 years of experience producing a wide range of scientific and medical content written for a variety of audiences.
Based in Boston since 1989, Dr. Alexander has worked with many pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, clinical research centers, and academic/non-profit organizations in the greater Boston and New England area.
In 1994, Dr. Alexander joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Medicine – first at Massachusetts General Hospital and later at the Harvard Institute of Medicine and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During that time, he conducted original research (for a list of his publications, click here) and wrote academic/industrial Collaborative Research Agreements, including subsequent CRA project management and progress reports. He also wrote, edited, and oversaw several Federal Grant Applications, as well as coordination of yearly progress reports and renewals in accordance with federal guidelines.
His other experience includes medical writing for a translational research setting – including proceedings of meetings, original manuscripts, reports, educational reviews, clinical reference texts, clinical and basic research data analysis, and graphical presentation for a variety of print, presentation and on-line media formats.
Dr. Alexander has organized medical education materials and technical medical content in a narrative form, as well as slide kits for continuing medical education (CME) symposia. As an experienced biomedical writer, he has an excellent working knowledge of medical, pharmaceutical and drug discovery terminology and data presentation, as well as outstanding project management skills.
Dr. Alexander received his PhD from Wesleyan University in 1989. He has held staff positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston University Medical Center, Harvard Institutes of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Tufts University School of Medicine.
